Do you need a break from study or some time-out to think about your future options?
Does caring for koalas in Queensland; working with dolphins on Kangaroo Island; or rescuing injured wildlife in Western Australia appeal to you? Or, if you like working with kids… how about teaching French in an outback school; coordinating outdoor education for high school students in Tasmania; or getting hands-on with science and technology education at a leading public institution in Perth? Or you can volunteer in a hospital in Hobart, work with the Red Cross in the beautiful Blue Mountains… these are just some of things our participants find themselves doing through AFS Australia’s Community Service Program.
Help a local community, develop your own skills and experience Australia… you’ll make a meaningful contribution to a community organisation, learn more about yourself and what you’re truly capable of and also form friendships that will last a lifetime.
AFS Australia’s Community Service Program offers placements in a range of community service organisations across Australia for a 5 month or a 3 month duration. You will live with an Australian family and volunteer for an organisation in the local community. You program fee includes accommodation, most of your meals and daily transport to/from your community organisation.
AFS Australia offers community service placements in the following categories:
- Environment including working with animals or in agriculture
- Education including working with children and young people
- Health including hospitals and community clinics
- Community Development including working with charities and non-profit organisations
Every year, we work with new community organisations and source new placements for our participants – so stay tuned and watch this list grow!
